9 Prayers for Open Doors and Opportunities With Bible Verses

God through his provision, power, mercy, grace, and love opens doors for us as his children. These are doors of blessings, opportunities, and favor because of his love toward us not because we force him, we’re clever or smart or even deserve it.

Through these prayers for open doors and opportunities with Bible verses, we ask God to open doors in our lives and seek wisdom and guidance to know which are the right doors that will benefit us and to close the wrong doors which cause us harm.

At times God opens doors for our personal advancement and progress, for our growth and maturity in faith. Then there are times he opens doors for his purpose, glory, and the advancement of his kingdom.

Usually, the Lord performs miracles and divine interventions in our lives. When the impossible becomes possible, it grows your faith and helps you trust in God’s power.

Prayers for Open Doors and Opportunities

Opportunities usually come when you’ve prayed and asked God for them or when you obey him and he grants you the desires of your heart.

As a new believer, you may be looking for opportunities to propel you to success in your new faith and turn away from your old ways. These prayers for open doors and opportunities with Bible verses are just what you need to guide and encourage you on your path.

When you need open doors in your marriage, in your career or your financial situation is tight, believe in your heart that as you pray through these powerful prayer points, he will hear you and open new doors for you.

Let’s pray!

  1. Prayer to walk away from closed doors in your past

When you become a Christian, God closes some doors in your life. This may be friendships in your past or hobbies and activities that you previously liked but were harmful to your well-being.

These closed doors allow you to welcome the new things God has planned for you. He will make new connections, new habits, and new activities that will help you walk away from the closed doors of your past.

“Do not remember the former things,
Or ponder the things of the past.
Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even put a road in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.”

Isaiah 43:18-19 AMP

Gracious Lord, thank you for the new life that I’m experiencing in you. Guide me as l let go of the past and not remember what I’ve lost. I know that there are new opportunities that are coming my way in the Kingdom of God. Help me not to fix my eyes on the closed doors but rather on Christ Jesus.

Open my hand to embrace the new opportunities because they are from you and they’re for my own good. Because you are a miracle-working God opening doors amid the wilderness and desert, l put my faith and hope in you. In Jesus’ name l pray. Amen.

  1. Prayer to take advantage of opportunities

“making the very most of your time [on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence], because the days are [filled with] evil.”

Ephesians 5:16 AMP

This is a call to take the initial actions by being actively involved in the kingdom of God and using our talents and abilities for His glory. We should be alert and look for opportunities to serve the Lord. When we do, he opens the right doors in our lives.

O Lord, thank you for giving us opportunities in our daily lives. When these opportunities to serve you and serve others present themselves, guide me to take advantage of them with wisdom and diligence.

May l be passionate about the things of God, always ready to share the love and grace I’ve received from the Lord. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

  1. Prayer for opportunities to share the Gospel

“And when they arrived and gathered the church together, they declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.”

Acts 14:27 ESV

“But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost, because a wide door for effective service has opened to me [in Ephesus, a very promising opportunity], and there are many adversaries.”

1 Corinthians 16:8-9 AMP

The Apostle Paul preached the gospel message and was always looking for opportunities to share this message and his testimony. God’s plan is for all people to be saved and he uses us as his children to tell others about the gospel of Christ. It’s part of our effective service in his kingdom.

But even as the Apostle Paul mentions that there are roadblocks that oppose and challenge us in our intentions which results in spiritual warfare. It may be your past, fear, perfectionism, or actual people who block you from sharing what God has done. Let’s ask God in prayer to help us deal with this.

Dear Lord, l thank you today for saving me by your grace. I want the whole world to know about you. Open doors for me to share my testimony with those that don’t know you. By God’s power remove all roadblocks and hindrances to the Gospel of Christ that l want to share.

I ask for boldness and confidence to share this message of truth as the Apostle Paul did. Give me a passion and desire to see others saved. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. Prayer to be sure an opportunity is from God

When the door of opportunity opens, how do you know it’s from God? There are various ways to be sure that an opportunity is from him according to God’s word.

“The blessing of the Lord brings [true] riches,

And He adds no sorrow to it [for it comes as a blessing from God].”

Proverbs 10:22 AMP

The first voice to listen to is God’s voice through scripture. As you know God’s character that he is good, loving, forgiving, kind, and merciful, you can see that the opportunity is good.

Seek godly counsel from a pastor, mentor, or church leader as well, and ask God for wisdom to make the best decisions going forward. Wisdom starts with the fear of the Lord. This is being in awe of God, having reverence for him because he is holy and sovereign.

“If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.”

James 1:5 AMP

O king of glory thank you that your blessings do not add sorrow but bring true material and spiritual riches. l ask that you open the right doors and close the wrong ones.

Holy Spirit give me wisdom to discern the Lord’s voice through Scripture and other people’s words so that l may make the right decisions and walk through the right doors.

Thank you Father that you give good gifts to us as your children. I ask you today to give me the gift of wisdom to guide me through life’s journey. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. Prayer for opportunities to do good

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

Galatians 6:10 NIV

Christ Jesus has shown us his unfailing love on the cross when he died for our sins. We can never thank him enough for what he did. But we have the opportunity to share the spirit of Jesus in love, serving, and doing good work in the home, church, and our communities.

Gracious Father, thank you for the unfailing love that you’ve shown me. Teach me to serve others and love others the same way you’ve loved and served me. Open doors of opportunities for me to extend your grace and mercy to those around me. Give me more patience, empathy, and positivity to shine your light on others. Amen.

  1. Prayer to trust God for open doors

God wants us to have unwavering faith in his ability to open wide doors of blessing in our lives.

Great things await us when we don’t lean on the facts, statistics, past, and what people say but choose rather to trust in God’s word and his character.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways submit to him,

and he will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield;

the Lord bestows favor and honor.

No good thing does he withhold

from those who walk uprightly.”

Psalm 84:11 ESV

Dear God, teach me to trust you in every area of my life. I no longer want to lean on my own understanding or what the world says. I choose to submit to your word so it can guide me and make my path straight.

Thank you that you won’t withhold any good thing from me as your child. Open doors of divine opportunities for me so l can shine and be a light to others. Amen.

Isaiah 41:13
  1. Prayer for faith in God to open doors

“I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.

Revelation 3:8 NLT

“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:

These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.

Revelation 3:7 NIV

The power of God is truly amazing. He opens doors that no man can close and opens doors that no man can open again.

Dear Heavenly Father, we honor you because you are in control, you are our king, and you have divine power. Open everlasting doors in our lives so that we may walk through them and show your good work.

Even when l have little strength to pray and read my Bible, you continue to strengthen me for you are gracious Lord. In Jesus’ name l pray. Amen.

  1. Prayer for strength to walk through open doors

We don’t only need faith to believe that God can open doors of blessings in our lives, we also need strength to walk through the doors. He is a God of miracles who opened the prison doors for Peter and the apostles who had been arrested for preaching the Gospel of Christ.

“But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, 20 “Go and stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this Life.”

Acts 5:19-20 ESV

These men were led out of jail so they could carry on with God’s purpose. In the same way, God promises to be with us always and give us the strength to accept the new opportunities that come our way. He will set us free from the chains and prisons that have held us back so we can experience freedom in him.

“For I, the Lord your God,

hold your right hand;

it is I who say to you, “Fear not,

I am the one who helps you.”

Isaiah 41:13 ESV

Lord almighty, l believe that the same God who opened the doors of the prison in the word of God is the same one with me today. Strengthen me to take advantage of the new opportunities and blessings that come my way.

Gracious god, help me not to fear but be courageous and stand on your truth. By the power of God, set me free from any chains that are holding me back from experiencing the best that you’ve planned for me.

In Jesus’ name, l pray. Amen.

  1. Prayer for God to grant you the desires of your heart

Delight yourself in the Lord,

and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4 ESV

God’s promise is that as you read his word and start to spend more time building a close relationship with him, you’ll grow in your faith and trust him. Then at the right time, he will give you the desires of your heart when you are aligned with his will, and open the doors of blessings in your life.

Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for your promises. May l be intentional daily to read your word and apply it in my life and may l have a daily and active prayer life. Grant me the desires of my heart and open doors for the things l need. I give you praise and honor. Thank you for hearing my prayer. Amen.
